Richard Stallman

Richard Stallman is the founder of the GNU Projectexternal link, launched in 1984 to develop the free software operating system GNU. The name "GNU" is a recursive acronym for "GNU's Not Unix".

Free softwareexternal link means that everyone is free to use, copy, modify and redistribute it, without any restriction. Non-free software keeps users divided and helpless, forbidden to share it and unable to change it. A free operating system is essential for people to be able to use computers in freedom.

Today, Linux-based variants of the GNU system, based on the kernel Linux developed by Linus Torvalds, are in widespread use. There are estimated to be some 20 million users of GNU/Linux systems today.

Best quote from Richard so far:

"what you are doing is of such significance that we could even put a note on the homepage of the Free Software Foundationexternal link to recruit people for it"

Not sure what exactly he was reffering to, but I think it was the Transaction Engine? needed in order to enable both powerful free money and liquid democracy systems.

Unfortunately, I was wrong. Richard is not totally confident in the significance of such systems, and was merely reffering to the fact that paying free software programmers to create a new oil exchange for Iran would be significant. Seems that without realising it one is stuck in the current monetary paradigm.
